A 42-room beachfront boutique hotel in Phuket. The lobby and restaurant needed to open completely to the pool deck during the day while maintaining full climate control at night. The tropical monsoon climate added humidity and salt-air challenges.
The lobby facade is 18 meters wide. The owner wanted the entire wall to disappear during the day, creating a single open-air pavilion. The system must also seal tightly during tropical rainstorms and resist salt corrosion.
We engineered a 6-panel bi-fold glass wall system with marine-grade 6063-T6 aluminum, powder-coated in a custom bronze finish. Each panel is 3m x 3.2m with 8+12A+8mm tempered IGU. The folding hardware allows the entire wall to fold and stack to one side, leaving a completely open aperture.
